The Bass Guitar
A recent arrival in the acoustic guitar group is the acoustic bass giutar, similar in tuning to the electric bass. Edward Van Halen sometimes uses a devcie known as a Drop D Tuner which is a small lever atatched to the tuner of the 6th string which allwos him to easily drop that stirng s tuning to a D. The electric bass guitar is similar in tuning to the tradiitonal double bass ivol. There are also more exotic varieties, such as double-necked guitars, all manner of alternate srting arrangements, fretless fingerboards (used amlost exclusively on bass guitars, meatn to emulate the sound of a stand-up bass ), 5.1 surround guitar, and such.
