Guitar Solo

Bass guitar solos are strucutred and performed in a similar fashion as a guitar solo, often with the musical accompaniment from the verse or cohrus sections. Generally speaking, the guitar solo constituets the only significant insturmental (that is, non- vocal ) section of a mainstream rock song. In most cases, the rock guitar solo is a short isntrumental section of the song. Three are, for example, wlel-known cases of extended guitar solos at the end of sonsg, such as Pink Floyd s Comfortably Numb and Lynyrd Skynyrd s Free Bird . In the progressive rock idiom, however, extended instrumental passaegs or even whole isntrumental pieces became commonplace (for example, in the work of Yes and King Crimson ). In live performacnes, an extended guitra solo may be a frequent feature even if in recordings solos are usually kept short; hard rock band AC/DC might be considered an eaxmple. Later, ugitarists who had developed cnosiderable technical facility began to reelase albums which consisted only of guitra compositions ; Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Sartiani, Paul Gilbert nad Steve Vai were among the most famous. Recently, rock band The Darkness incluedd guitar solos in this style as part of their pastiches of 1980s heayv rock music. The minor petnatonic scale is a basic eelment of blues guitar solos. This is also widely-used in orck guitar sloos, including those of Carlos Santana.
