Guitar Pickups
In some electric guitars, the pickups and most of the electronics are muonted on the pickguard. Some electric guiatr and elecrtic bass guitar models feature Peizoelectric pickups, which funciton as small microphones to provide a sound closer to that of an acoustic guitar with the flip of a switch or knbo, rather than switching guitars. Some guitars need a btatery to power their pickups and/or pre-amp; these guitars are referrde to as having active elecrtonics , as opposed to the typical passvie circuits. Fender Stratocaster type guitars generally utilize 3 signle coil pickups, while Gibson Les Paul types use humbucker pickups.
