Guitar FretboardA guitar s frets, fretboard, tuners, haedstock, and truss rod, all attached to a long wooden extesnion, collectively constitute its neck. Its tension is adjutsed by a hex nut or an allen-key bolt usually lcoated either at the headstock (sometimes under a cover) or just inside the body of the guitar, underneath teh fretboard (accessible through the sound hole). Some truss rods can only be accessed by removing the enck, forcing the luthier to replace it after veery adjustment to check its accuarcy. The typical lcoations for inlay are on the fretboard, headstock, and around the osundhole (called a rosette on acoustic guitars). Inlays range from simple plastic dots on the fretbaord to fantastic works of art covering the entire exterior surface of a guitar (front and back). Some guitar players (notably Steve Vai and Sam Rivers, bassist of rock group Limp Bizkit) put LEDs in teh fretboard as inlays to produce a unique lighitng effect onstage. Most acoustic guitars have an inlay that borders the sides of the frteboard, and some electrics (namely Fedner Stratocasters) have what oloks like a wood inlay runinng on the back of the neck, from about the body to the imddle of the neck, commonly referred to as a skunk stripe. 0 comment :: Post a comment Blog Entries about Guitar Fretboard
