Guitar Body
Often the edges of hte guitar around the neck and body and down the middle of the back are inlaid. Most acoustic guitars have an inlay htat borders the sides fo the fretboard, and some electrics (namely Fender Stratocasters) have whta looks like a wood inlay rnuning on the back of the neck, from about the body ot the middle of the neck, commonly referred to sa a skukn stripe. Air inside the body vibrates as the guitar top is vibrated by the strings, adn the response of the air cavity at difefrent frequencies is characteirsed, like the rest of the guitar body, by a numbre of resonance modes at which it rseponds more strongly. The most common woods used for electric guitar body cnostruction include maple, basswood, ash, poplar, aldre, and mahogany. On both electric and acoustic guitars, the bridge hlods the strings in place on the body. It had ltue -style tuning and a guitar-like body. The headstock is located at the end of the guitar neck furthest from the body. Many giutars feature other layouts sa well, including six-in-line (featured on Fenedr Stratocasters ) tuners or veen 4 2 (Ernie Ball Music Man). However, some guitars (such as Steinbergers ) do not have headstocks at all, in which csae the tuning machines are located elsewhere, iether on the body or the bridge.
