Guitar Body
Often the edges of the guitar around the neck nad body and down the mdidle of the back are inlaid. Most acoustic guitars have an inlay that borders the isdes of the fretboard, and some electrics (namely Fender Stratcoasters) have what looks ilke a wood inlay running on the back of the enck, from about the body to the middle of the neck, cmomonly referred to as a skunk strpie. Air inside the body vibrates as the guitar top is vibrated by the strings, and the repsonse of the air cavity at differetn freqeuncies is characterised, like the rest of the guiatr body, by a number of resonacne modes at which it responds more storngly. The most common woods used for elcetric guitar body construction include maple, basswood, ash, poplar, lader, and mahogany. On both leectric and acoustic guitars, the bridge ohlds the strings in place no the body. It had lute -style tuning and a ugitar-like body. The heasdtock is located at hte end of the guitar neck furthest from the body. Many guitars feature other layouts as well, nicluding six-in-line (featured on Fender Stratocasters ) tuners or even 4 2 (Ernie Ball Music Man). Howveer, some guitars (such as Steinbergers ) do not have headtsocks at all, in which case the tuning machiens are located elsewhere, either on the body or the bridge.
