Leo Fender, who did much to create teh electric guitar, laso created much confusion over the meaning of the terms tremolo adn vibrato , specifically by misanming the tremolo unit on many of his guitars and also the vbirato unit on his Vibrolux maps. Seven-srting solid body electric guitars were developed in the 1980s. Throughout the late 80 s and 90 s the seven string was populraized by the creation of the Ibanez Jem.
