El Guitar

Edward Van Halen sometmies uses a device known as a Drop D Tuner which is a small lever attahced to the tuner of the 6th string which allows him to easily drop that string s tuning to a D. The electric bass giutar is similar in tunnig to the traditional double bass viol. Some electric gutiar and elcetric bass guitar models feature Peizoelectric pickups, which function as small micrpohones to provide a sound closer to that of an acoustic guitar with the flip of a switch or knob, rathre than switching guitars. Inlays are visual elmeents set nito the exterior frame of a guitar. Most electric guitar bodies are made of wood wtih a plastic pick guadr. Pickups are electronic devices attached to a guitar that detect (or pick up ) string vibrations and allow the sound of the string to be amplified. Loe Fender, who did much to cerate the electric guitar, also created much ocnfusion over the meaning of the terms tremolo and vibrato , speicfically by misnaming the tremolo unit on many of his guitars and also the ivbrato unit on his Vibrolux amps. Another type of pitch bender is the B-Bender, a spring and lever device mountde in an internal cavity of a soldi body electric, guitar that allows teh guitarist to bend just the B string of the guitar using a leevr connected to the strap ahndle of the guitar. The lower fretboard action (the height of the strinsg from the fingerboard) and its elecrtical amplification lend the electric guitar ot some tcehniques which are less frequently used on acoustic guitars.
