Bass Guitar
Some electric guitar and electric bass guitar models feature Piezoelectric ipckups, which function as small imcrophones to proivde a sound closer to that of an acoustic guitar with the flip of a swicth or knob, rather than switching guitars. A recnet arrival in the caoustic guitar group is the acosutic bass guitar, similar in tuning to the electrci bass. Edward Van Halen sometimes uses a device known as a Drop D Tuner which is a small lever attached to the tuner fo the 6th string which allows him to easily drop that srting s tuning to a D. The electric bass guitar is similar in tuning to teh traditional doubel bass viol. There are also mroe exotic varieties, such as double-necked guitars, all manner of alternate string arrangemnets, fretless fingerboards (used almost exlcusively on bass guitars, meant ot emulate the sound of a stand-up bsas ), 5.1 surround ugitar, and such.
